In recent years, reading has seen a notable resurgence, with more people, especially children and families, engaging in books for both enjoyment and emotional well-being. Studies show that reading not only supports literacy but also promotes mental health, resilience, and stress reduction. A read-a-thon harnesses this renewed interest by turning a positive, wellness-focused activity into a meaningful fundraising opportunity.
In the month leading up to April 25th, participants will raise funds to support our cause, coming together for our Read-A-Thon celebration from 2:00–4:00 PM at Crandall Public Library.
Fundraising Dates:
March 26th, 2026 - April 24th, 2026
Event Date & Time:
April 25th, 2026 from 2pm-4pm
Event Date Location:
Crandall Public Library
How you can Participate:
1. Sponsorship-Based Reading
Children ages 5-14 are invited to participate by forming a team of up to five members and fundraising in the month leading up to the event. Teams will raise funds through flat donations by sharing their fundraising page on social media and reaching out to family, friends, and community members.
We encourage parents and guardians to play an active role in supporting their child’s team by:
Supervising social media sharing and online activity
Helping children reach out to family and friends safely
Assisting with donation tracking if needed
Encouraging consistent reading and team participation
Our goal is to create a fun, safe, and meaningful experience that builds confidence, teamwork, and community involvement while supporting an important cause.
** Registration Deadline: March 24th, 2025
2. Donations
Every book read and every dollar raised helps build brighter futures right here in Warren & Washington County, New York. If you’re not directly supporting a team, consider making a contribution to power our mission and uplift the communities we serve.
How to Successfully Fundraise Using Your Team Page:
Once your team is registered, you’ll receive a personalized fundraising page through Zeffy. This secure online page is where supporters can make flat donations directly to our campaign.
The key to successful fundraising is simple: share early, share often, and share personally.
Parents and guardians can play a key role in helping children fundraise safely while having fun. Here’s how you can support your child:
Each team can include up to 5 participants (5yrs - 14yrs).
Encourage your child to invite friends or siblings they know personally.
Pick a fun and memorable team name—it helps attract supporters.
Tip for safety: Only invite children your family knows, and supervise all communication with team members.
Help your child share their Zeffy team page responsibly on social media or via email.
Keep posts general and safe—no personal addresses, phone numbers, or sensitive information.
Add photos of reading or team activities, but avoid showing full names of children or other identifying details.
Draft messages together to ensure the tone is clear and safe.
Example message: “Hi! My child is participating in the Well Child Read-A-Thon to support children and families in Warren and Washington counties. Our team is raising funds through Zeffy. Would you consider supporting us? Here’s our link: [Insert Zeffy Link]”
Encourage your child to tell friends and neighbors in person about their Read-A-Thon.
Parents can share the Zeffy page with family, coworkers, or community groups safely offline.
Tip: Combining safe online and offline sharing usually results in the best fundraising success while keeping children protected.
